Mars went down into the hands of Lanky and the situation has not improved till the present day. This situation was a tough blow to the people of the earth who were depending on its alliance. Andrew Grayson lost many of his allies and team members in the battle but he is not given time to mourn the loss. If he starts mourning the loss then more disaster will come to the earth. Andrew takes a positive step and starts hiring new men for the war which is already on their heads.

No one would remain safe from the upcoming war so it is better to prepare and train for it. No further options can be seen for this group of fighters which is losing its members at a quick pace. Fighting with the Lanky forces is one of the options which the humans have in their mind but winning, in this case, is not a hundred percent.
There was another group which is remembered as the group of deserters now, the group just left the battlefield once and ran away with some stolen stuff hidden under their belts. Andrew thinks that they could be asked for help if they are found somehow.

These two options have a lot of risks involved and without taking a risk no problem would be solved. Marko Kloos i.e the author of the series has been playing quite a controlled game in this story. Everything and everyone is in good control of the author and the narrator Luke Daniels. Fields of Fire and Citadel type of stories are not there anymore, the author’s major focus lies on the fate of Andrew Grayson and his men.
