I thank my lucky stars that I discovered this amazing author early in her career because she is a jewel of a find. Even more impressive is that I e-mailed her to tell her how gaga I was over Cake and she e-mailed back the same day! I first became intrigued with her writing when I saw the cover with the unusual title and I had to give Cake a try. Boy, was I glad. What’s even better is the next 3 books just keep getting better and better. I can’t wait to see what comes next. Cake the Newlyweds have everything I want in a good romance novel, great lovable characters, an original plot line, humor, angst and that happy ever after ending. I have encouraged all of my reading friends to read this series and everyone has loved it. If you haven’t been swept away by the Cake phenomena get going and purchase these beautiful books. And who doesn’t love why the book is called Cake?

I have to say I have read a lot of books, and Casey and Jake still remain number one in my all time favorites. I have been waiting for Jake and Casey’s (Cake) story to continue every since the author wrote that it would,, always checking to see if it was available yet. I hope the author continues this series with other characters. I have read the first Cake several times, because it is that good… I will read this one again I am sure. If you have not read this series, do it now. Start from the beginning. Warning though, don’t count on getting much done because it’s painful to put down once you get started.

Audiobook The Newlyweds (Cake #4) by J. Bengtsson
Two of the worst words in the English language are … the end … I hope not for this series, I hope to see a long line of books on this family. I read this in one sitting, cause I couldn’t put it down. I had gotten half way thru another book but when I saw this was live..yeah that book is still waiting. This one though, it’ll make you laugh out loud (cat balls, German chocolate cake and Chuckie Cheese oh my) and just when you think your g on a laugh more, you turn the page and your no longer laughing, but tears are still falling. This is funny and sad and crazy and just a really good read.

Audio The Newlyweds (Cake #4) narrated by Andi Arndt Joe Arden
While this is a romance and a drama in terms of the trauma Jake went through as a child, there were so many parts of this book where the dialogue just had me in stitches & laughing out loud! I even woke up my partner, reading in bed, laughing so hard! Such a well written series, great writing style, believable characters (that you would wish for friends) that grabs your heart with all that the characters go through in order to come out the other side whole again.
Am anxiously awaiting the next in the series and so glad it finally came to KU!

Cake: The Newlyweds
Please note this is not a standalone, you need to read Cake: A Love Story first.
J Bengtsson does it again, she gives us more McKallister hijinks and emotion. We find Jake and Casey married and settling into their new way of life.
Dont worry! We do get a look back to pre-wedding, the wedding day, and the honeymoon. Expect the usual humor and out loud laughs weve come to expect from this crazy family.
And also as expected, there is emotion, a lot of emotion. Have your tissues ready. Jake is having some issues that have to deal with the what happened to him in the past. Casey is also having some issues. Especially when Jake goes back on tour and Casey stays home to work.
As usual real life intrudes and some very important decisions need to be made and agonized over. But in the end, the newlyweds get their HEA. It just takes a few backroads to get there.
