I likes this book a lot. the story really articulates the challenges women had succeeding in athletics. I appreciated how the epilog clarified the facts from the embellishments. 2 people found this helpful

Audiobook Fast Girls: A Novel of the 1936 Women’s Olympic Team by Elise Hooper

Great story! Really really brings into perspective how far women have come in 100 years. We need to understand our history and be thankful that our nation continues to evolve. 2 people found this helpful

Audio Fast Girls: A Novel of the 1936 Women’s Olympic Team narrated by Kaleo Griffith Karissa Vacker Kristyl Dawn Tift Reba Buhr

This subject is of great interest to me, but I just couldn\’t continue listening. The writing did not appeal to me at all, and I thought maybe it was written for young adults. So disappointing that I\’ll actually be returning this book.

This book was not bad; in parts it was more entertaining than factual, but I found that disappointing. I wish the explanation of actual events versus creative narrative were presented at the beginning of the book rather than the end. The narrator’s voice was pleasing, but the assignment of different voices to characters got lost later in the book. One distinctly masculine deep and throaty female voice wound up as a virtual light and feminine sound by the end of the book. It was difficult to differentiate between characters. Nonetheless, the events and difficulties of the women, in particular those of color, are important to document and appreciate for which I give credit.
