I agree with Lauren. I was very taken aback to hear the constant taking of the Lord’s name in vain. To me that’s worse than a bushel of damns and hells. Glad the others in the series to seem to do then same. At least not yet.

Killer Pancake audiobook in series Goldy Bear Culinary

I have read a number of Diane Mott Davidson’s books. I thought that I had read this one before, I recommend it to a friend because I thpught in her earlier books she didn’t ise profanily. I am just embarrassed that I recommend it.

Audiobook Killer Pancake by Diane Mott Davidson

the amount of time the lead character spends talking to the murderer in each of these books is astonishing. while the storyline is good, and the characters are believable, the lead character is a cross between the pink panther and Martha Stewart. how she bumbles into solving the case is beyound me. still not buying the psych degree. the narrator brought the characters to life.

Audio Killer Pancake narrated by Barbara Rosenblat

Another outstanding murder mystery by the talented Diane Mott Davidson. She not only conjures up a plate of delicious murder, she also cooks up wonderful recipes for the reader’s pleasure. All of the recipes featured in the life of her amateur sleuth, Goldy Schulz (Professional Caterer), are included in the book so the reader can have more of a “being there” experience, if desired. This novel stands on its own, but if read in sequence with the rest of the Goldy collection, the broader, more complete story of Goldy’s life unfolds. So much fun!

Like other reviewers, I found this offering was just so-so. It may be that I’m weary of Goldy always finding dead bodies, always having mini-breakdowns, and Goldy’s loved ones always being under suspicion. It seems churlish of me to complain about very well-described human emotions to traumatic death, but after four or five stories it’s just gotten a bit tedious for me. Let Goldy solve a murder that’s not directly related to her little family for a change.

Diane Mott Davidson’s adventures of Goldy the caterer are enjoyable to read and mouth watering at the same time. Reading them in the order written helps keep the continuity going as you follow Goldy’s antics and misfortunes and her struggles to raise her son, Arch, and keep the anger of her ex-husband at bay. I’ll be sad when I’m done reading the last book.
