The Talismans of Shannara audiobook free
I really enjoyed this series a lot, frankly a lot more than I thought I would. I grew up with in the 80s with the original Shannara books and was looking forward to this series. Unfortunately, Talisman is so much filler and exposition that it slows and drags when it should soar. Nearly each chapter is full of internal dialogue rehashing the same arguments raised in this book and earlier books in the series. In fact, in retrospect very little actually happens in 440 pages. While there is action, other writers could have banged out the same ideas into a more concise and entertaining package. Instead, the same tropes get passed around. For example, I have never read a book, let alone the ending of a series, where the main plot point involves numerous characters getting captured. And then when rescued, the rescuers had thought they were saving a totally different character. Once is ok (although the captured trope is overused in this series already), but numerous times reeks of the lack of storytelling imagination. Look, if you have gotten this far, of course read this book. But it is horribly disappointing and the sooner you finish it the sooner you can move onto more superior fantasy novels.

I have loved Terry Brooks forever it seems. I will always love his writings. The Shannara series was, is and always will be my favorite reads. This time around is my third time purchasing them, (all of them) and about my 20th time reading them.

Another great book in the Shannara saga. Action packed is an understatement for this book. I recommend this book and it\’s author.

Audio The Talismans of Shannara narrated by John Lee
I think I\’ve read most of the books in the whole Shannara series by Terry Brooks, but this series has been one of my favorites. This is book four in the Heritage of Shannara series (The Scions of Shannara, The Druid of Shannara, and The Elf Queen of Shannara are the earlier books) and it is an exciting end to our hero\’s adventures. I\’ve found all of the books hard to put down for any time as I keep wondering what is going to happen next. While The Genesis of Shannara is probably my absolute favorite series of books by this author, I would put this series down as my almost favorite. A good read for any fan of fantasy fiction.

Par was searching for Coll who has become Shadowen infested. he had seen glimpses of Coll in the creative\’s face and knowing he could save him. but when separated, they lose their ways and it takes the combined efforts of the other scions of Shannara to make them whole again. thoroughly enjoyable and worth reading again and again
