This was a great read. The main characters were sharp and well defined. Even the minor players in the book were well fleshed out. It wasnt a fast paced novel with constant action, but a nice comfortable read with enough action and plot to keep me interested, one that I will go back to again.
Gene Desrosiers perfume factory is in serious trouble. Listening to her father, she let other run the business, while she concentrated on what made her company a success. The making of the perfume, getting the flowers just right to release the perfect scent for her line of exclusive perfumes.
Unfortunately for Gene and her factory, the person left in charges was less than above board. When she suddenly leaves, it doesnt take Gene long to figure out why, and why the company is in dire shape.
Not only does Gene rely on the perfume sales for a living, so does most of the town of Grady. If Gene fails, the town could become a ghost town all too soon.
Gene loves her company and her town, though she doesnt know most of them personally, they still are part of her family. The town feels the same way about Gene, all part of the family of Grady.
The town and a surprise outsider all help to save Desrosiers perfume factory, but has Gene ignored the running of the business too long to make a comeback?
This book has a nice slow burn romance running throughout the story. Love can be elusive, and sometimes it takes something drastic for you to notice what has been right in front of your eyes for years. Gene finally sees what she had overlooked for years, and only hopes it isnt too late, because if the perfume factory fails, love will be the only thing she has left.

Audio At Last narrated by Renee Elizabeths
enjoyed this sweet and inspiring story of a town coming together to try to save the company that keeps them all afloat. Love stories abound in At Last and I was especially enamoured by one in particular. Perfume company owner Gene has yet to find the love of her life but if she opened her eyes she would see love was there in front of her all along. Outsider Quinn comes to town to try and sort out supply problems for her employers but ends up finding out more about herself. I think the town of Grady had quite an impact on those choosing to spend time there. Powerful circumstances made people reassess their lives. Love, family, romance and loyalty were the themes that drew me into this story. I felt myself rooting for the characters be it in their love lives or in business. An enjoyable read.

**’As a writer you’ve got to have great characters, Yes,but just as important you’ve got to have them do something creative.You also have to have enticing action..’
Written in a somewhat engaging and unpretentious readable style,’AT LAST’ takes readers on an unbalancing journey, from the ripple effect of a failing business with ingenious disastrous decision-making by an unscrupulous upper management executive — to the unknowns coming in to try resolving said thorny decisions into much better opportunity for the company (The Desrosiers) and it’s town folks.
Having the many effective skills and strategic inputs from some of Grady’s caring residents into getting said company back in the black did help to spur then owner Genevieve’s confidence into overdrive.What she could not do is make any decisive impact by just sitting still and doing nothing — so by putting all her valuable knowledge into her family business before it really goes bankrupt and to not disappoint the villagers. And with her leading the pact with other contributing factors it might make all the difference.
As the storyline progress, some readers will learn that the company (The Desrosiers) did have a few influential backers who instead of standing on the sideline while watching this company dissolve — were willing to contribute whatever financial help needed. Having this company’s products in their stores was a plus.
Is there any romance? Yes, but the author was not detail oriented in telling this part of the story, just bits and pieces of few intimate intervals from some secondary characters.
For me, I do not think the chemistry between it’s leading characters (Gene & Dee) was anything to scream about because Dee comes off more as one of those many centralize characters mentioned.
All in all, after all the upheaval and chaos surrounding the company — the outcome ended up being satisfactory to everyone because the town inherited a brand new facility with offers of more job opportunities for the residents of Grady, NY.
