Spoiler if you read on- I CANT BELIEVE SHE KILLED JARED!!! He was Lizzys only beacon of hope and now he\’s dead which means she is dark and twisted. Terrible terrible decision. I\’m actually not going to read on!!! I am fuming at Ragan. She\’s a good writer for page turning events but without hope there is no reason for me to continue the series. I\’m actually mad at myself I read them at all because now I\’m so disappointed.

Wow. Where to start? I really liked the first few books in this series. But this one? It was all over the place. Lizzie is hunting 1) arevenge killer and 2) a stalker/kidnapper/rapist. She visits the murderer’s parents. That was just bizarre and added nothing to the story, at all. Nope, not even for the cookies (if you read it, you will know what I mean). It read like filler. She goes to a missing persons detective about all the murders (not a homicide detective) but even with all the related “accidents” the police are too stupid to see any connection. Really? The author brings Jessica back but it feels like an afterthought or just to remind the readers the character exists. SPOILER ALERT: At the end the revenge killer gets away with it (maybe to return in another book) and Lizzie decides to become a vigilante…ironic.

Audiobook Almost Dead (Lizzy Gardner #5) by T.R. Ragan

I wasn\’t ready for this one even though I was ready… I kept telling myself until the very end \”There\’s no way T.R. Ragan was going to do it, but Hot diggadee damn, she did, she did… She wrote another amazing Lizzy Gardner series book\”! Now, that I am writing this review of book #5 and about to move on to book #6 and the last book in this series, I can\’t help but to think \”Omw, after this book, its really going to be over\” I was a lot disappointed to know that Lizzy Gardner & Jared Shayne wasn\’t going to get their \”Happy ending after all\” and then I was just royally pissed off about it! I was hoping with all hope that @ least when they took him off life support, even if he didn\’t wake up right away he\’d be breathing on his on so that way when I started reading book #6 we\’d find that \”somehow Jared waking up would have helped Lizzy find herself again, but of course that\’s not the case\”! Other then that, that was the only disappoint I was left with after reading this book, but as usual every since book #1 every page of The Lizzy Gardner Series has been an amazingly breath taking, heart wrenching, eye opening, fantastic page turning thriller and I have enjoying reading every second, minute & hour of it\”! Now, on to book #6 even though every part of my heart, mind, body, spirit & soul is hoping that book #6 really isn\’t the end!!!!!!????❤??????????

Audio Almost Dead (Lizzy Gardner #5) narrated by Kate Rudd

In \”Almost Dead,\” the worst possible comes to pass. And author T.R. Ragan doesn\’t shy from directing the story of private investigator Lizzy Gardner into a dark direction. In this installment, blackness has fallen. Her boyfriend, her intended, her love lies in a coma with very little possibility of recovery. And this is no \”One Life to Live.\” Ragan doesn\’t bring anybody back. She traces the outskirts of all-out agony when it comes to her story lines. Lizzy can\’t do much. She\’s reverts to autopilot while her lieutenants take up a majority of the story. And as is her custom, Ragan offers insight into the mind of her killer. But this one is different. She\’s a victim, much as Hayley is a victim. And her pain and suffering caused her to lash out at her demons, who in this case are a group of rich students from high school. They called themselves the Ambassador Club and doled out horrific bullying, including rape and unyielding harassment. Ragan almost makes it a cautionary tale. The now adult bullies have had to live with their actions, and for many those memories and the weight of what they did proved life altering. That, of course, doesn\’t matter to the victim. She\’s unrelenting. And at some point, she begins to find catharsis in her actions as unhinged as they are. This is not a series to read without taking a break. I recommend it. Reading something in between each novel would have kept me from getting somewhat depressed. I didn\’t want to do anything for days. I mean, I went to work. I did my job. But Ragan\’s ability to tap into that darkness brought some of it into my normally upbeat attitude. Yikes. However, it just means she\’s that good.

The author starts right off with the first character meeting a supposed lover only to learn that instead of proposing to her, he actually tells her that he has just done that with another woman. He tells her to bear up and get a life and to be a real person. With that she goes to the kitchen and gets the butcher knife and show him what he is made up of. He is the first of 13 people that she has hated since high school. With that send off, she proceeds to go through the remaining fellow students in a wide variety of ways to commit murder. Lizzy and her crew try to solve the mystery and have their own problems along the way. We read the book as a read-a-book while on a vacation drive. It was hard to lay down at times.
