Skulduggery 5 (Building a Criminal Empire #5) audiobook free
This book is honestly pretty good I only have a couple complaints because the series is really well fleshed out. That being said problems in the first 4 books have only been magnified in this one because they still haven’t been addressed.
1) Intelligent MC – the Mc of this series is portrayed as an intelligent mastermind. This different take is extremely refreshing but the constant need to continue to prove the MCs intelligence makes simple problems with simple solutions far to complex requiring elaborate skems and plots just to complete what should be a simple tasks. There are hints of this in book 2 and the problem only seems to be growing as the series continues.
2) Nerfed – all long running series try to limit the MCs growth so they don’t get to strong to fast. This is done in this series by relegating growth to mainly financial or magical gain. This nerfs there growth since financial growth can be tracked by there enemies and Magic growth is mostly unreliable or situational at best. (See book 2 the magical Prize they spent half the book getting is completely useless in there current situation and I don’t see it being important for a long time making half of book 2 a side story for this current arc) This has created a problem where the main villains of the series are getting gradually bigger and badder each book but the MCs growth has started to stagnate. It’s easy to see the problem when the MC is struggling with mini bosses that should be easy by this point in the story.
Without a large growth of manpower this problem will only snowball and become even more unbelievable.

Honestly I picked up these books two days ago on the recommendation of an author I like, and now Ive read all five. The reason it even took so long is that is that I sped through the first four and I took my time with this one. Its slow going at times but the premise and the writing are great. Logan Jacobs is one of the best story tellers of our time and I mean that in a sense that they really are great works even if the slow spots crawl, the faster parts are well written and suspenseful. Its like good music but a story if you know what I mean.

Audiobook Skulduggery 5 (Building a Criminal Empire #5) by Logan Jacobs
I am really enjoying these books and the direction the author is taking them. I also enjoy that each character gets their own chapter here and there and we get to see things from their point of view. It will be interesting to see which of the MC’s enemies becomes the biggest threat to his operation. Can’t wait for the next book.

So the Thieve’s Guild Guildmaster has come to down, and Hell follows with her. If you’ve been following this series at all, things just got a lot more complicated for Wade’s crew. Some good and some bad things happen, and even the minor characters are interesting. I’m ready to hire someone to take out Lobrem myself.
