WOW!!!! What a great story, but more importantly this story had almost all the elements I like in a romance novel, after all I am not reading a classic such as “War & Peace”, but a fantasy-like story to make me forget my troubles. For starters, the heroine was truly beautiful and admired, also resourceful and with a definite back bone. For me it was refreshing as well as wonderful, that a heroine who was abused in bed acted the part, instead of melting into lust , the minute she lays eyes on the hero. with her body twitching every which way. I also liked that for once a woman did not easily forgive a trangression from her man, and that she made him work hard for her forgiveness. And finally I adored that this story did not take the usual turn: Heroine in love, and in total dispair because the hero does not return her feelings.

As for the hero, he was even better, strong and powerful but so smitten (he fell in love first, celebrating that). I loved that instead of his being a womanizer charmer (with a too beautiful face) he was handsome an brooding. I loved his jeaulosy and how he messed up because of it, and how he tried to make amends afterwards. I loved that we got a lot of his point of view, of his thoughts and feelings about the heroine, especially while they made love. I absolutely adored that such a strong man could be so endearingly vulnerable because his all consuming love for the heroine, I just found him perfect. The story was romantic and entretaining, and because it had, no elements in it, that I hate to read about, I completely loved it . I could not put the book down. Unfortunately books like this are rare so I am doubly grateful that I discovered this story.

Started off fantastic, wonderful-steamy love scenes, damsel in distress, strong warrior head over heals in love with damsel (Reason for 3 stars) ……but that was only the first 1/2 of the book. ….. The 2nd have didn’t have the passion, romance or love scenes I was expecting. That really bummed me out! It had so much potential in the beginning.

Not only did the passion fizzle, but I started to become frustrated with the damsel and the warrior. Over and over you hear how the warrior couldn’t trust her because all of his men, including a prince, were twitterpated by her beauty. She on the other hand, could never love , or give him her heart because her dead husband had raped and beat her so many times, she became cold and frigid. So she doesn’t allow herself to to ever love, but ironically, she does the love the Prince as a brother! Uggh, because of this, we go round and round with the story line…. trust vs love. Is she the mistress of the Prince? How many men has she slept with…blah blah blah…over and over and over

Warrior tries so hard to love her, show he is a good man, and in the end…….She doesn’t even tell him that she loves him!!

Audiobook Knight of Desire by Margaret Mallory

Enjoyed this book thoroughly… I was puzzled that some reviewers found the fact that Catherine had NOT told her new husband about the actions of Edmund somehow unacceptable. Shed already witnessed how he overreacted to the news that her son wasnt fathered by her first husband… Why would any woman ( basically powerless ) take the risk of trusting any man ever again? Catherine wasnt a fool, but a survivor! I found the story to be both realistic and absorbing, which any bibliophile will deeply appreciate. This new author wrote a wonderful romance and I know that Ill be watching for more of her books. Definitely an excellent and captivating romance!

Audio Knight of Desire narrated by Derek Perkins

I thoroughly enjoy Margaret Mallory’s books. This story is a must read for fans of historical romance. I liked the H but wanted to smack him on multiple occasions for his stupidity. Loved the h and in the end the H finally becomes the man the h needed him to be. This story has all the elements that make a book great; good plot, interesting characters, and a well drawn out historically correct background that immediately pulls the reader in making them a part of that world. Knight of Desire is a HEA and all is resolved in the end. I rated this book as a 5 because it is that good – don’t miss it. Thanks for another good read Ms. Mallory.

This is the first book I have read of hers. I would give it a 4.5 stars. You have William and Catherine, who met once years ago, but never forgot that night. They meet again as William comes to claim her home and marry her. She does not realize it was William all those years ago; however William knows it was her. William has a mother who he believes sleeps around, is overbearing, selfish, and always picks the wrong men. He is a bastard and his father never claimed him. His father also fought against the King, but William would not join him in his fight. William wants a home and a wife he can trust. One who will not sleep around on him. Catherine was married to a mean man. He had problems in the bedroom and would beat her. She gave the prince information so he could be caught for the traitor he was. He was caught and killed by William, which is why William is given her lands, and the chance to either marry her or have her imprisoned in the Tower, because she is the wife of a traitor. William marries her, but has a hard time trusting her because of the fact that she betrayed her husband, and the fact that his friend Edmund keeps saying bad things about her. Catherine is also afraid to let him consummate their marriage because of how her first husband treated her, which does not help matters either. Catherine learns to trust him first, but William really has a hard time trusting her. This makes their relationship a roller coaster, with William messing it up most of the time. I think I would have liked the story to go different a couple of times, but it is still a good read. Can’t wait to read the next 2 books. The second one is about Williams half brother Stephen, and the third one is about Catherine’s son Jamie. Sex content is medium.
