This is a review for those of you who would rather not read a book that frequently uses swearing and sexual talk & situations. It\’s a cute story, and I wanted to love it, but those details ruined it for me.

I would give this book ten stars if I could. I laughed out loud. I snorted. It made me want to re-watch a lot of rom coms. It mentions every rom com that I love (including my favorite Jimmy Stewart movie). I try not to choose books for my book club without reading them but I chose this one without reading it first and I\’m glad I did and I can\’t wait to discuss it.

Audiobook Waiting for Tom Hanks (Waiting for Tom Hanks #1) by Kerry Winfrey
WAITING FOR TOM HANKS by Kerry Winfrey is written for those of us that love 90s romantic comedies that centered around Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks, and the like. There is nothing I didnt love about this book. As I try to keep my reading lighter over the summer, this book took me through the last two hours of a road trip and is one I will re-read again when I need a laugh or pick-me-up. In a world where everyone is able to watch everyone else, its a great play on the foe turned friend theme and its hilariously funny and charming. And the little comedy nuggets in this book (like everything about Barry) are priceless. Im excited that this is a series so we can see how the next book will play out with a different character. If you want to read one book this summer that will make you smile from your toes to your eyelashes and if you are a fan of this genre, grab this one. LOVED IT!

Audio Waiting for Tom Hanks (Waiting for Tom Hanks #1) narrated by Rachel L. Jacobs
The title of this book is 5 stars, but unfortunately the rest is not. Waiting For Tom Hanks had all the makings of a classic romcom.. the quirky best friend, the mega movie star Hero, the introverted, yet love obsessed Heroine but something goes horribly wrong. Our Hero is a great guy and our heroine is oblivious to this. In fact, she seems determined to turn her audience against him. She adopts an annoyingly bad attitude and the worst part is, I suspect this was unintentional on the author\’s part. It\’s impossible to root for this couple. I\’d rather tell him to run away as fast as he can! The book is also repetitive and could turn an avid lover of Tom Hanks and romantic comedies against both just by slapping the reader in the face with constant references. Great title, promising premise, frustrating story. It isn\’t hopeless, but pick it up on sale and keep your expectations in check.

This book\’s cover caught my attention several months ago and I eagerly pre-ordered. The premise is clever and I appreciated the author\’s ability to poke fun at her character\’s obsession with Tom Hanks. The hero was a well-crafted and lovable guy, but I struggled to connect with the heroine. Sympathetic backstory? Yes. Unwavering commitment to finding her one true love? Also yes. She just wasn\’t my favorite and I didn\’t find the book to be all that humorous. I\’m so over klutzy heroines. Someone who falls down and spills coffee on people isn\’t really all that funny.
